In addition to High School Summer College Mentor responsibilities (see the Mentor job description for more information), the Head Mentor will assume an additional leadership role within the residence. Head Mentors provide logistical support to the House Director (HD) of their residence and serve as a leader for other High School Summer College residential student staff.
The Mentor position incorporates elements of an RA, NSO leader, tutor and advisor, supporting student development individually and as a community. High School Summer College Mentors live-in the residences and are the visible summer role models and leaders for High School Summer College students. Mentors help develop educational opportunities that complement and extend classroom learning, in addition to planning recreational and fun activities.
Graduate Students Positions
This live-in position coordinates High School Summer College trips, events, and programming. Working with a team of activities-focused residential staff, the Activities Director (AD) ensures the programming needs of the High School Summer College populations—international, commuter, residential, and online—are met. The AD is a valued member of the High School Summer College Senior Staff team and considered a professional staff member during the summer.
House Directors (HDs) oversee the daily operations of the residences assigned to them. They are the lead senior staff member living in the residences and, as such, shape the culture of the residential experience. HDs are valued members of the Summer Session and High School Summer College teams and are considered professional staff members during the summer.
